Here's the number one mistake businesses make when handling their social media.
As a business owner you don't have time in your day to handle social media, so what do you do? You hand it off to your administrative assistant or tech-savvy millennial in your office. You assume that because they're young and they spend lots of time online that they're good at social media.
The problem is what you've really done is you've put someone in charge that has limited experience in business or in marketing and then you expect them to get you a result.
To make matters worse you might not even be sure what kind of results do you want. Do you feel that you just need to be on social media so you just post something? Or maybe you're really looking to engage with your audience? Or you're looking to generate a lead or a sale, which is obviously much harder to do.
If you don't know what you want you're definitely not even giving directions to your poor admin who's trying to handle your social media. They may put up some random posts or tell you about the Likes they're getting on your page but it's unlikely they're generating any kind of meaningful results. You're unknowingly setting them up to fail.
So the number one mistake most business owners make is putting an inexperienced employee or an intern in charge of their social media.
